"First Light" Gardens

The garden consists of flowerbeds, fruit trees, palms and shrubs. Under the grape vines is a large herb garden with, thyme, mint, sage, basil, lemon grass, rosemary and parsley, all close to the kitchen. On the other side of this large border are roses, agave, geranium, lantana and African daises, a nectarine, plum and three pistachio trees, give much needed shade to the plants and herbs. The next border contains a large date palm, two fan palms, two oleanders, lantana and African daises.

The next bed follows the fence border and contains one date palm, two very large Yucca’s and one small one, a young rubber tree, a jacaranda, plum tree, fan palm, three olives and a ficus. There are also oleanders, bougainvillaeas, geraniums, African daises and a large primrose jasmine. The next bed is round and has a large carob tree under which are geraniums. All the beds have stone surrounds. In the middle of the courtyard is a stone round bed containing a grapefruit tree and planted beneath the tree are ivy leaf trailing geraniums mixed with spider plants. The front garden has stone pathways and walls and is arranged into five flower beds, containing seven olive trees, four fan palms, nine oleanders, lantana, ficus, palm, dusty miller, lavender, cycas, African daises, rosa ice plant, geraniums, agave, cape honeysuckle and lots of various cactus plants in pots.
The covered court veranda also has many pot plants, some of these are, palms, oleander, canna, tree aloe, mother in laws tongue, jasmine, coconut, gardenia, poinsettia, spider plants and many more.

The gardens and orchard are visually beautiful with the mix of flowers, fruit and herbs and very economical with all the produce they provide.
Both the orchard and the flowerbeds have an inbuilt watering system so only specific areas and some pots need to be watered by hand.
